PREA Institute

PREA offers a series of rigorous educational institutes conducted in cooperation with major universities. The purpose of the PREA Institute is to deepen our members' understanding of the academic aspects of public and private real estate portfolio management.

Taught by academicians and practitioners, these academic forums are usually conducted on the campus of the participating university, and blend theory with practice to achieve a balanced understanding of the issues relevant to the rapidly maturing real estate investment profession.

To maintain the effectiveness and integrity of the Institute, attendance is limited to a maximum of 40 members using an application process. Enrollment in the Institute is purposely diversified to obtain appropriate representation of plan sponsors, consultants, service providers and investment managers. The diversity contributes to the quality and complexity of the discussions.

Each course consists of two and a half days of intensive lectures and discussions. Reading materials and group projects supplement and enrich the classroom experience. Institutes have been held on topics such as portfolio management, asset management, research, and risk management.

Past institutes have been held at the MIT Center for Real Estate, The Center for Real Estate at Indiana University, the University of California at Berkeley and The Wharton School. We endeavor to work with the best academicians in diverse locations.

The Institute is directed by the PREA Institute Committee in conjunction with the PREA Staff. Attendance at the Institute is reserved for PREA members only.
